2005 JGA Jr. Championship

The following are the results from JGA Jr. Championship, a nationally ranked two-day junior golf tournament (officially ranked by the Junior Golf Scoreboard) organized by the Junior Golfers’ Association of America.  The event was held at Cape May National Golf Club, Cape May, NJ on May 7th & May 8th, 2005. The weather conditions were wet from a rainstorm Friday night through Saturday morning.  Saturday’s wind was approximately

15 mph and Sunday’s wind was approximately 20mph.  The results were:

 

Girls Ages 19 & Under (from 5200 yards) 

Aurora Kan, 11 of Boothwyn, Pa won the Girls Ages 19 & Under division.  Aurora’s other top finishes nationally were: Champion at age 7 of the US Kids Golf World Championship.  Champion of the Doral Publix Junior Classic, 6th at the Callaway Junior World, 2nd at the Doral Publix Junior Classic, and 3rd at the Pepsi Little People.  Not only is Aurora an accomplished golfer, she is also an accomplished student achieving the Presidents Club for Academic Achievement and Honor Roll at Chichester Middle School.

Boys Ages 12 & Under (from 5200 yards)

Jeffery LeFevre, 12 of Northfield, NJ, son of Linwood Country Club’s PGA Golf Professional Jeff LeFevre, won the Boys Ages 12 & Under division, with a 141 (-1 under par) two-day total.  Jeffery’s other top finishes nationally and in the State of New Jersey were: 6th at the US Kids Golf World Championship and 1st in the US Kids Golf NJ State Championship.  Jeffery is also one of the top players on the Tour at the Shore and the Cape Jr. Golf Tour.

Boys Ages 13 to 15 (6200 yards)

Daniel Drazen, 15 of Voorhees, NJ won the Boys Ages 13 to 15 division shooting 15 over par for two days.  Daniel was the Courier Post’s Player of the Week recently and finished 10th Place individually at the Garden State Cup with a 75 at Blue Heron Pines GC in April.

Eric Schmehl, 17 of Shamong, NJ won the Boys Ages 16 to 19 division with a 6 over par two-day total of 148.  Eric Schmehl, a Seneca High School student, finished 6th in the Carl Arena tournament recently, was on the 2004 GAP’s Williamson Cup Team, T4 at 2004 Group II Sectional, 3rd in the 2004 Olympic Conference, and was a quarter finalist at the 2004 GAP’s Junior Boy’s Championship.
