Questions to help you identify the need for a Personalized Club Fitting:
1. Is your set or an individual club right for you? To answer this question, you’ll need to answer a series of questions:
A. Are you tall or short and playing standard length clubs?
Hint#1: If you are too tall for your clubs, your hips won’t work correctly and you will have a hard time returning to the ball with a good shift and rotation.
Hint#2: If you are too tall, your club’s toe will dig in.
Hint#3: If your clubs are too long for you, this will cause your swing to be flat and the heal to hit the ground first causing a hook. If you’re a jr. golfer, then the club is also going to be too heavy for you!
B. Are you young, strong, and using irons that are graphite (especially if cheap)?
Hint: The cheaper the shaft, especially graphite material, the more apt you are to spraying your shots. Typically, with the cheaper materials and construction brings too much torque (head twisting).
C. Can grip size affect your shot pattern?
Hint#1: Typically, a grip that is too small for you will produce a bigger draw or hook.
Hint#2: Therefore, a grip that is too large for you will produce a bigger fade or slice.
2. How can I tell?
A. Is this something that I can do on my own to find out?
Hint#1: Check your divots and your rotation, both the coil & uncoil.
Hint#2: Visit John Petronis for a full consultation as to determine if it’s your swing or your clubs.
